QIL’s safety strategy is based on two fundamental elements: We always look to put safety first in all that we do, and all employees are responsible for each other’s safety. We have a program that continuously measure our progress and results. This programs is based on changing behaviors – a work place assessment concept - and developing our work practices.

Educating and Empowering our People

Our employee development program provides a balanced mix of theory and practical skills; skills that help our people motivate their teams to work in the safest possible manner. As well as giving our employees an in depth understanding of the safety opportunities we face, the programme provides communication line (top-down and bottom-up) and team working skills necessary to work safe.

Clearly defined systems, procedures and assessments

QIL’s integrated safety management system is a twelve step safety system that is based around three pillars: Leadership, Structure, and Processes & Actions. Evaluation of our safety performance is carried out using regular, in-depth Workplace Safety Assessments. These assessments provide an indicator of strengths and vulnerabilities in the implementation of the safety management system. Clearly defined actions are derived from the assessments to help ensure the safest possible working environment.
